Vascular surgery

Vascular surgery is a branch of surgery that includes surgery to treat vascular diseases such as varicose veins or vascular stenosis. For example, one of the tasks of vascular surgery is to create a bypass. Vascular surgery is a branch of surgery that includes the detection and surgical treatment of diseases of the vascular system (including vascular damage and malformations) as well as follow-up care and rehabilitation. Vascular surgical procedures include the surgical treatment of vascular diseases and injuries by plastic surgery, particularly the surgical treatment of major arteries including the abdominal aorta and peripheral arterial circulatory disorders, and the surgical treatment of peripheral and central veins.

On the other hand, coronary artery surgery is traditionally heart surgery. A typical surgical procedure in vascular surgery is to set up a vascular bypass for peripheral arterial disease or to insert a prosthesis for aneurysms outside the brain. Vascular surgery also involves the surgical treatment of atherosclerosis on the blood vessels that supply the brain (such as the carotid artery) to prevent stroke. In addition, dialysis shunts (short-circuit connections between arterial veins and veins requiring dialysis) are used in vascular surgery.
