Active contribution to securing the future

Environmental protection is one of FAULHABER's central values. With the company's core competence, the development of drive systems with high efficiency and low energy consumption, FAULHABER technology contributes to the responsible and sustainable use of natural resources. The site in Schönaich recently became one of the first production companies to produce completely climate-neutral.

For many years, Dr. Fritz Faulhaber GmbH & Co. KG has invested in climate-neutral power generation at its Schönaich location. In addition to the expansion of the photovoltaic system, a block-type thermal power station was one of these investments. The combined heat and power plant produces electricity and heat with the help of natural gas and thus works much more efficiently than conventional heating systems can. Additional electricity is only obtained from renewable sources (so-called green electricity). In order to compensate for the proportion of CO2 that is generated when burning natural gas, a climate-neutral compensation with the gas price was agreed with the utility company.

"This was a big step towards becoming a climate-neutral company," explains Jörg Rittker, who is responsible for quality and environmental management at FAULHABER. "But against the background of the ongoing discussion about protecting the climate and the environment, we considered what additional contribution we could make to become completely climate-neutral." the aircraft produces CO2 emissions. “We have therefore decided to compensate for this remaining amount of CO2,” said Rittker.

With the non-profit company Atmosfair, a partner has been found who can implement the compensation in a targeted and serious manner. FAULHABER supports the Atmosfair project "Efficient 'Save80' stoves in Rwanda". Rwanda is one of the least developed countries in the world. The high demand for firewood combined with inefficient use is driving the deforestation of the existing forests in Rwanda. With the Save80 stoves, 80 percent firewood can be saved compared to traditional stoves. This is good for the climate and avoids deforestation. The savings from lower wood requirements also enable families to cover other expenses such as school fees.

FAULHABER is one of the first production companies to produce climate-neutrally. "We are pleased to make such an active contribution to securing the future and to preserving the wealth of natural ecosystems for future generations," emphasizes Rittker.
