A completely "normal" life – even for diabetics. This is not a pipe dream, but reality. Unlike just a few years ago, diabetics can now measure their blood sugar levels themselves and adjust their treatment accordingly. This makes them independent.
The ACCU-CHEK® Compact Plus is a completely redesigned blood glucose meter. Particular emphasis was placed on ease of use and optimal safety. To take a measurement, simply press a single button on the device. The test strips are contained in a drum with 17 strips and, unlike previous models, no longer need to be handled individually. The test strip is inserted into position at the touch of a button and ejected after the measurement – also at the touch of a button. The drum then rotates to the next position, and the device is ready for the next measurement. This device significantly simplifies blood glucose testing and allows it to be performed anytime, anywhere. When the strips are used up, the drum can be replaced in two simple steps.
For this automated process of reliably dispensing and processing the test strips, FAULHABER developed a highly integrated drive system in close collaboration with the customer. The challenge lay in the complexity of the mechatronic, battery-powered drive unit. Since the device could be no larger than a mobile phone, only minimal installation space was available. Following its development, the complete drive system is now also being manufactured by the FAULHABER Group.
