The 8th edition of our “Advanced Training Course in Gynecological Oncology” took place on November 12 and 13, 2019 at the IRCAD Institute in Strasbourg, France.
This year the participants came from all over the world, such as from South Africa, Vietnam, Romania, Germany, Morocco, Italy, France and Spain.
On the first day of the course, international speakers gave lectures on topics such as “Advanced minimally invasive techniques in gynecology”, “Guidelines and operation techniques in breast cancer”, “The importance of lymph node staging in gynecological oncology” and many more. The lectures also included a video session with discussions of selected surgical cases and explanations of the technical background of bipolar vascular sealing.
The second day of the course was dedicated to intensive hands-on training, in which the participants had the opportunity to put the devices into practice in the wet lab with the support of experienced surgeons. This enabled the participants to exchange knowledge and experiences. The day ended with the handover of the certificates and a lunch together.
Overall, the feedback from the participants was very positive. We are already looking forward to the next course in Strasbourg, which will take place on November 25th and 26th this year!
