Linseed - Only one very good product found in the test

People who want to eat consciously and healthily often use flaxseed. These have a high content of protein, fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. However, what is not part of a balanced and healthy diet are pollutants. However, these were found in a recent test on some products.

MOSH and MOAH are mineral oil hydrocarbons - MOSH can accumulate in the organs and MOAH is suspected of being carcinogenic. There are currently no limit values for mineral oil hydrocarbons, but work is already being done on a corresponding regulation.

However, there are guide values for MOSH/MOAH in oilseeds:

The orientation value for MOSH was exceeded in one of 20 samples examined.

In addition, cyanogenic glycosides, from which hydrogen cyanide can form, have been detected in some products. Excessive consumption can lead to hydrocyanic acid poisoning. According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, a daily consumption of 15g should therefore not be exceeded. There is also no legal limit for hydrocyanic acid, but an EU-wide upper limit is currently being discussed.

To ensure that your products are safe and meet the quality requirements, bilacon supports you in examining your linseed. We carry out analyzes for mineral oil hydrocarbons and hydrocyanic acid. We also check your products for other parameters such as pesticides, heavy metals and mould.
