The reality of our lives has changed enormously in the last 20 years in terms of the use of electronic devices, the Internet and digital applications. We are surrounded by a whole range of electronic and digital products every day. And we've got used to it: Instead of being out and about with a Walkman and without a phone, we always carry our mobile office in the form of our smartphone with us. We make phone calls, listen to music, write messages, compare prices, network with friends and much more - quickly, easily and conveniently with just a few clicks. That is our claim. If that doesn't work with an application, we are annoyed and look for alternatives - because there are usually plenty of them.

Whether we think a product or an application is good or bad is clearly related to how we experience it in use and what experience we have with it - in short, with the user experience. Can we use the application and does it support us in our tasks? Is it even fun to use?

Definition of user experience (UX for short): The term user experience - or, in other words, user experience - describes all perceptions and reactions of a person resulting from the use and / or the expected use of a product, system or service. This includes all emotions, ideas, preferences, perceptions, physiological and psychological reactions, behaviors and performances that arise before, during and after use.

It is no longer enough to simply make applications usable from a pragmatic point of view. The expectations of today's users have clearly increased.

Definition of usability: The pragmatic quality is covered by the term usability or usability, which describes the extent to which a product can be used by certain users in a certain application context in order to achieve certain goals effectively, efficiently and satisfactorily.

Digital products also have to take emotional and aesthetic aspects into account in order to be successful. That means they have to be well thought out, attractively designed and both simple and pleasant to use - and above all for the people for whom they are developed. User experience design (UX design for short) takes these factors into account, as it places the user at the center of the design process. UX Design provides the tools and methods to better understand who we design for and how we can do it systematically.

UX design - what do we do with it at atrify?
We think: UX design is a convincing approach that is worth taking! We put our users at the center of our product development! The atrify UX team set to work with great enthusiasm - at the beginning a one-man show - a few years ago.

It all started with atrify publishing, our data entry solution for manufacturers and suppliers. The plan was to first establish the UX design process for this solution. So the first thing we did was go to the “problem room ” and take a close look at who our users are, what tasks they want to do and what problems stand in their way. We already had a small premonition of what to expect. We knew that the application context in which we operate is very complex and multi-layered. The exchange of product data via the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) follows a special choreography - from the sender via the data pool and the global registry to the recipient, provided that all parties agree. There are many standards to be considered and innumerable attributes
