Dental face bows
The insertion of a face bow bite fork is done under a series of steps. The first step involves inserting ear pieces in the patient's ears. Then, a thumb screw is tightened to adjust the width of the facebow. The next step involves positioning the nasion relator so that it touches the bridge of the nose. The locking device is used to secure the front portion of the facebow. A double-toggle clamp is placed on the stem of the bite fork. Finally, a single toggle clamp is secured to the vertical attachment.
The second step involves removing the face bow from the patient's mouth. First, a dentist needs to remove the bite fork and the facebow frame. Then, he or she needs to attach the articulator to the patient's teeth. The articulator is the next step. The surgeon needs to tighten the first screw. Once the articulator is properly attached, the face bow can be fitted into the patient's mouth.
After removing the facebow, the bite fork and the face bow should be removed. Then, the patient must wear a surgical mask to wear the teeth. The bite fork should be attached to the bite fork through the second finger screw. Then, the surgeon should put the earbow into the patient's ears. Afterwards, the surgeon should level the earbow at the reference point using a liquid level.
After removing the face bow and bite fork from the patient's mouth, the surgeon can remove the entire face-bow and bite fork assembly. A single-toggle clamp will be secured to the vertical attachment post. The patient's mouth must be open, and the side arms must be retracted away from the patient's ear. Once the extraction is completed, the dental assistant should then mount the face bow and bite fork assembly onto the teeth of the patient.
To mount a face bow bite fork, the surgeon must remove the patient's mouth and clamp the facebow. Then, the patient must retract his or her side arms away from the ears. Then, the surgeon must insert the bite fork into the patient's mouth. Afterward, the earbow must be removed from the patient's mouth and the facebow should be removed from the jaw. After the extraction, the dentist should send the bite fork and the facebow to a laboratory for mounting.
The face bow fork is connected to the jaw via a jig. Once in place, the bite fork is reseated on the maxillary teeth. The patient must hold the bite fork while the surgeon places the condylar locators on the external auditory meatus. The facebow must be centered around the patient's head. The set screw should have equal dimensions on the condylar pointers.
