Ona Electro-Erosion S.A. is one of the most well known manufacturers of die sinking erosion machines. They offer 44 standard configurations, including the ONA NX3 and ONA TX10. The ONA NX3 has an X-Y-Z travel of 11.8 inches and the ONA TX10 has an 118-by-59-inch working envelope. Both machines can erode two cavities simultaneously and independently.

Another type of die sinking erosion process is drill eroding, also known as spark erosion drilling. This process uses a starting hole drilling machine to produce a hole, followed by threading the hole. In this case, the electrode is rotated at a constant speed while the Z-axis is simultaneously fed through the workpiece. The end result is a threaded, unthreaded piece. These are the types of die sinking machines most commonly used in the oil and gas industry.

The X-Y-Z axes on a die sinking EDM machine allow for easy electrode changes. These EDM machines can be automated to perform lights-out manufacturing. The continuous feed of electrodes helps improve cost-effectiveness. Unlike other types of machining, die sinking erosion also makes the workpiece smooth.
