Middle ear implant systems

A middle ear implant system is a surgical procedure that restores the function of the ear. The procedure involves placing a small electromagnetic coil in the middle lobe space, which stimulates a magnet that is attached surgically to the ossicular chain. The electromagnetic field causes the bone cells in the middle ears to vibrate, mimicking the sounds we hear in a natural environment. The most common middle ear implant system consists of a magnetic attachment device and an audio processor. The AP is worn on the head and contains a microphone, demodulator, and conductor link.
