The term audiology is derived from the Latin word € žaudirea. Audiology (from the Latin audire, to hear, and the Greek logos, teaching), as a multidisciplinary field of work and an independent science that emerged after the Second World War, deals with all aspects of auditory perception, i.e. hearing in the sense of perceiving sound. The field of audiology, which deals with hearing disorders, is at the same time a branch of medicine, more precisely a branch of ear, nose and throat medicine (ENT). In addition, hearing acoustics deals with all aspects of hearing that occur in both normal and hard of hearing under natural and technical conditions. Pedagogical audiology is primarily based on knowledge of hearing physiology. This therapy has now become an established and extremely successful clinical procedure developed. Audiology plays a key role in CI care. When researching hearing, audiology relies, among other things, on the methods of audiometry (hearing test procedures) and psychoacoustics. However, there is currently no academic training that does justice to the complexity of audiology in CI care. However, because of the large number of physical and biological effects involved in hearing, research into hearing is primarily a research area in medicine, the natural sciences and engineering.
