Orthodontic rubbers

Orthodontic rubbers are used in many forms of orthodontic treatment. They are worn to ensure that the teeth and jaws are properly aligned. Most people undergo at least one orthodontic treatment before they can begin to see results, but there are other types of braces as well. The first type of brace is known as a traditional brace. This type of brace is similar to the former. It straightens the teeth and corrects the bite.

An orthodontic rubber is similar to a laminated adhesive bandage or a suture. It is composed of a thin elastomeric band and a polymer coating that may be hydrogel-coated. The band may be coated with a soluble medicine. This medicine may be a bactericide, or a repositionable antiseptic. These braces are commonly used for temporary treatment and to help move the teeth into place after a tooth has been positioned.

Some orthodontic rubbers are water-repellent, so they do not cause gum irritation. These types of elastics also have the benefit of being comfortable to wear. They fit comfortably in the mouth and are easily removable. Patients will want to wear them around the house and during meals. The elastics should be kept in place at all times, except when they are eating or brushing. However, patients should be aware that they should avoid eating or brushing their teeth while wearing orthodontic rubbers.

While rubber bands are not required for all children with braces, they may be a necessary part of the treatment. If they are needed, rubber bands help to provide extra force during the bite correction phase. They are easy to wear and are a good choice for those with allergies to latex. They are also removable and are easy to replace, which makes them a great choice for some orthodontic treatments. There are also other benefits to using rubber bands, including preventing the formation of cavities and improving your confidence.

Interarch rubber bands are not needed in all patients. This type of rubber band does not affect the alignment of the teeth. If you have a proper bite, it is not necessary to wear interarch rubber bands. In fact, if you are allergic to latex, you should avoid wearing elastics for any period of time. If you do not, you could potentially end up with a broken elastic. These are medical-grade latex bands that are safe for your mouth.

While rubber bands may be a great choice for your orthodontic treatment, they are not recommended for all patients. Some people may experience soreness in their mouth and jaw after wearing elastic bands. But this will subside once you are used to it. It is important to remember that elastic bands should never be used for this purpose unless you are a professional or have undergone orthodontic treatment before. You should also consider wearing a rubber band in addition to your other braces.
