Biocide-free cooling lubricants with a long service life thanks to FluidWorker technology
Water-miscible cooling lubricants in machine tools are susceptible to bacterial attack. The temperatures in the machine tank are usually ideal for bacteria to multiply. Bacteria feed on the ingredients of the cooling lubricant and reduce its quality. This can be remedied by isothiazoline-containing biocides that are added to the liquids. However, isothiazolines can cause severe allergies and are therefore potentially dangerous for humans and the environment. This is unknown to most employees and employers alike. The handling of these chemicals is often correspondingly inexperienced.
Replenishing cooling liquids in the right mixture of concentrate and water is also an important task that contributes significantly to the service life of cooling lubricants. Many mistakes are made here through manual intervention. This can have a very negative effect on the service life of machines and tools.
The solution: The FluidWorker 150 is a technical system for automating the need for cooling lubricant with a simultaneous care function using UV radiation of the cooling lubricant. FluidWorker 150 uses a Brix sensor to measure the concentration of the emulsion in the process. The fill level is monitored by a float in the machine tank. When the tank has sunk a little, the system decides which mixture is to be refilled with in order to maintain the set concentration. In the bypass, cooling lubricant is also permanently irradiated using a self-cleaning UV-C lamp, destroying the DNA of bacteria and viruses. As a consequence, the cooling lubricant remains free of bacterial contamination without the need to use biocides. The set concentration of the cooling lubricants remains constant, which has a very positive effect on the productivity of the machine tool.
