Artificial intelligence (AI) is considered a transformative technology that offers undeniable added value and is already being used in various industries in a variety of ways, often unnoticed by the user. One way to explain AI is as follows: It is a machine's ability to make decisions and perform tasks that simulate human intelligence and behavior. The methods are based on the underlying algorithm, e.g. on deep learning using neural networks. These are networks of artificial neurons modeled after the human brain and specialized in recognizing patterns in data. Training such a neural network with training data leads to a modification similar to human learning patterns and an AI model is created without the usual line-by-line programming of an algorithm.

For this purpose, MedicalMountains GmbH, together with the Institute for Data Science, Cloud Computing and IT Security (IDACUS; idacus.hs-furtwangen.de) at Furtwangen University, is offering a free AI talk day as part of the KIM-Labs funding project.
The IDACUS under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christoph Reich has been dealing with AI topics for years. Some work has been carried out in research projects and demonstrators, particularly in the area of image processing with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and predictive maintenance with neural networks.
