Active Sitting with simoba

The mega trend towards home office has surprisingly negative consequences. According to the Forsa survey *, every third homeworker complains of tension, back pain or headaches. They cite poor, non-ergonomic workplaces as the reason. The company simoba care from Obernheim takes care of the matter. "Active sitting can help here," says simoba managing director Jürgen Junker.

A single cushion is enough to encourage this active sitting. The therapy cushion developed by Simoba contains elastic plastic pads that automatically stimulate frequent changes of sitting position. "This active sitting trains the postural muscles, backbone and joints," explains Jürgen Junker. He believes it is urgently necessary to encourage active and healthy sitting among home workers in order to avoid the painful consequences of the home office trend.

Carmen Steinmetz-Ehrt, managing director of the German kinaesthetic association KMLH in Starzach, confirms: “As a result of the pandemic-related quarantine, many home offices were set up quickly and makeshift. Correct sitting was hardly taken into account. Employers should now do everything possible to maintain the health of professionals who stay at home. This includes active sitting. ”Carmen Steinmetz-Ehrt and Jürgen Junker are working together to make active sitting better known nationwide.

Active sitting is about stimulating one's own movement. Ergonomically designed office chairs already support correct posture. “Still, you sit more comfortably and passively. The less self-movement, the more the muscles atrophy, ”says Jürgen Junker.

The simoba pillow is designed to move the body out of the comfort zone in a targeted manner. It contains elastic pads that can be inserted and removed variably. About every half an hour, users switch between the left and right pad in order to stimulate the muscles and fine motor skills and to develop holding power. In this way, they keep activating other muscle groups, which is equivalent to a little muscle training.

The company simoba care GmbH offers the pillows by direct sail. Instructions for use are included. More information at www.softcomb.de. Softcomb is a registered trademark.
