TZM and Ulm University work together

TZM visits Prof. Munz at Ulm University

Cooperation between TZM and the Ulm University of Technology in medical technology!

Our employees, Prof. Rainer Würslin (Senior Advisor) and Bastian Mazzoli (Product Manager for Medical Technology) recently had the opportunity to Prof. Dr. Michael Munz at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Medical Technology at the Ulm University of Technology.

At this renowned university, students majoring in computer science not only gain insights into their core topics, but also exciting lectures on the emerging field of medical technology.

We, TZM GmbH, have maintained close contact with students at numerous universities for many years. That's why we appeal to talented people for internships, theses and jobs, especially those who are interested in software development in medical technology.

However, our collaboration with Prof. Munz goes beyond exchanging job opportunities. As part of its efforts to expand lectures with application-related content, TZM has offered to provide a typical use case for a connectivity solution in a hospital.

In this exciting project, a home ventilator is connected to a patient monitor via plug & play using the UMG - Universal Medical Gateway from TZM. This innovative solution not only enables significant time savings in hospitals, but also the digital forwarding of data to patient data monitoring systems (PDMS) or hospital information systems (KIS).

A demo of this connection was presented during the visit and we are proud that Prof. Munz was enthusiastic about the technology. It was therefore agreed that TZM would provide the necessary hardware and software permanently.

We are also pleased to be offering a guest lecture starting in the summer semester of 2024. Here, students gain practical knowledge on the topic of “integration of medical devices into the hospital IT infrastructure”.

A big thank you to Prof. Munz for his time and the opportunity for future collaboration in student training, but also on innovative research topics.
