New pollen analysis - assessment according to variable literature

The assessment of a variety of honey by means of pollen analysis is carried out in accordance with the Honey Ordinance or Directive 2001/110 / EC on honey, according to which variety honeys must have certain microscopic, physical-chemical and organoleptic characteristics. In Germany, most of the variety of honeys are therefore specified more precisely in the guidelines for honey. There, in addition to the minimum pollen content of the main forage, the F / G ratio, electrical conductivity, color and organoleptic characteristics are specified. However, these guidelines for honey are only valid in Germany.

In other European countries, there are also specific guidelines, analogous to the German guidelines, which set guidelines for single-variety honeys. In Spain, for example, there is the “Guía de mieles monoflorales ibéricas”. In some cases, these requirements differ from the requirements in Germany. As a result, an assessment according to the German guidelines for honey could turn out differently than based on other sources. For example, an orange honey with a pollen content of 16% and a methyl anthranilate content of 1.7 mg / kg would only be assessed in Germany as "blossom honey with a proportion of orange honey". Using Italian or Spanish guidelines, however, these values would correspond to the requirements for pure orange honey.

In order to do justice to these differences, QSI is now offering a new analysis code for pollen analysis. The determination itself is identical to the previous pollen analysis, but we evaluate the results on the basis of variable literature specified by you and not according to the guidelines for honey that apply in Germany. The underlying literature source is listed in the test report.

The new pollen analysis can be ordered with analysis code 218. In addition, we offer you analysis packages for the heather honey (analysis code 36281) and orange honey (analysis code 36282) due to the characteristic markers of some different types of honey. You can also order the package code 36280 for other types of honey such as rapeseed, where a pollen analysis including the determination of the F / G ratio is carried out.
