My internship at atrify

My school internship should actually have taken place last year, but was postponed to this year due to the corona pandemic and so I started my three-week internship in the marketing department at atrify in June 2021. Since my father works at atrify, I saw this as an opportunity to work in a familiar environment, but on a team with new people, and find out what kind of job or company would be for my future.

On my first day I was a little nervous and had doubts about whether I could work in a big company, but over time I became more confident and realized that work in school and work in the office are not that different. So I was given new and exciting tasks over and over again, which I had to work on and then shared my results with my teammates. It started with simple tasks and became more challenging with each completed task. The trust that was placed in me gave me additional motivation to work even more diligently on the tasks. I worked on a different website every week. In the first week I mainly worked with Pardot, where I synchronized potential customers in case they encountered an error, before I worked on the atrify pine website in the second week. On atrify pine I took over descriptions of new products, news, events and contacts of a new company. In the third week I dealt with Salesforce, where I created missing company accounts and created tasks for the team. In the course of the three weeks I was able to empathize with the work in the marketing department and gain a lot of background information.

But what was a typical day at atrify actually like? There was never actually a day that was exactly the same as the days before, so I'll go back to June 8, 2021 as an example. The day starts for the marketing team every morning with a team call at 9 o'clock about current topics and problems are discussed and solutions are sought together. Between the first and the second meeting of the day there was a 20 minute break for me, which I spent synchronizing potential customers. I kept working on this task whenever I had a little extra time or when I was waiting for a new task. In the second meeting at 10 a.m., a colleague gave a presentation about the current customer satisfaction and explained solutions to achieve a higher level of satisfaction. During this meeting, I learned many new words that I wrote down so that I could figure out what those words meant after the meeting was over. At 12 o'clock I took my lunch break to be able to plunge into the afternoon afterwards. After half an hour of syncing, I had another meeting where I learned how to get emails the right design, how to add links, and how to send an email to only one type of customer. My last assignment for the day was translating a presentation from German into English, which was a pleasant endeavor to end the day. My workday was over around 4 p.m., and I said goodbye to my colleagues and drove home with my father.

I am very grateful to the team in the marketing department for helping me and for being really patient when I was not sure about something or found something difficult to understand and asked several times. In the three weeks at atrify I learned a lot about “normal adult life” and to be honest, I had more fun than school. I was a little sad that the internship was over so quickly, but I'm glad I did this internship in the marketing department. It gave me a better idea of what I would like to do after leaving school. After the internship was over, my teacher asked me if I would recommend an internship there, and yes, I would definitely do that.
