Urology
Urology is the field of medicine that includes the basic knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary and reproductive organs. Urology deals in detail with diseases of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, testicles, sperm drainage tubes (such as the prostate) and endocrine glands (such as the adrenal glands). Common diseases are urinary stones, tumors, infections and deformities that can affect any organ. Urology is a specialty in the medical field dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the kidneys, the lower urinary tract and the male reproductive organs (andrology).
The boundary between urology and nephrology as a field of internal medicine is different. Traditionally, urology deals with the causes and consequences of urogenital diseases after the kidney. According to the strong surgical characteristics of the subjects, all types of surgical treatments in this area are the responsibility of the urologist.
It affects the urinary and urinary organs, namely the kidneys, bladder, ureters and urethra of both men and women. Urologists also treat diseases of the male reproductive organs, namely testicles, epididymis, seminal ducts, seminal vesicles, penis and prostate, thus covering the field of andrology. However, the examination and treatment of female reproductive organs is the responsibility of gynecology. Of course, gynecology, nephrology, neurology, oncology, venereal diseases and surgery overlap, and the role of urology is to diagnose and treat diseases of the urinary organs and male reproductive organs. This includes conservative and functional endovascular treatments, laparoscopic and open urological treatments, and stone fragmentation or laser treatments to cut and vaporize unwanted tissue.
