From Tuttlingen and for Tuttlingen: An ultra-low temperature freezer from Binder GmbH is used in the district vaccination center (KIZ). Large quantities of the BIONTECH vaccine can be stored in it. By the way: BINDER ultra low temperature freezers are used in all vaccination centers in Baden-Württemberg.

As soon as the double steel door opens, there is heavy steam. No wonder: the inside of the cabinet is a frosty 80 degrees below zero - the temperature at which the mRNA vaccine from BioNTech Pfizer has to be stored. Delivery comes once a week. Federal police take him to the district sports hall. Armed. Because in times of shortage, the small ampoules are valuable and sought-after. “The whole building is guarded around the clock,” reports Bernhard Flad from the management team of the KIZ in Tuttlingen.

The ultra-low temperature freezer for the valuable goods was built just a few hundred meters from its place of use in the Gänsäcker industrial area. BINDER is one of five manufacturers worldwide that have so-called "freezers" designed for such extreme temperatures in their product range. The competitors are located in the USA, Mexico, China and Japan. The current order situation looks accordingly. BINDER is the only producer on German soil.

How do you feel as an entrepreneur to be at the forefront in the fight against Corona? Binder Vice-President Michael Pfaff doesn't say too many words. “But it makes us proud,” he admits. And during a visit to the KIZ, Mayor Michael Beck and District Administrator Stefan Bär were also delighted that BINDER was playing such a major role in the corona pandemic. “It is impressive that all over Germany is cooled in Tuttlinger cabinets,” says Beck.
