This year, our trainees took on something special during the Advent season: in the spirit of the festival of love, they wanted to give something back. On the advice of trainer Robert Pejakic, they chose the "Christmas in a shoebox" campaign. In this way, the aid organization Samaritan's Purse gets bulging shoeboxes to needy children in the third world, just in time for Christmas.
The BINDER trainees initially donated money voluntarily to make the children happy. Around 130 euros were collected for the purchase of potential gifts. The boxes were provided free of charge by the neighboring shoe shop, so that in the end mainly hygiene articles could find their place in the boxes - because according to the aid organization the need is greatest here. Of course, some toys and some sweets could not be missing.
With Christmas music and funny conversations, the 10 boxes were packed by six trainees and one intern on October 25th and taken to the post office two days later. The project team also paid for the transport costs. All in all, our young colleagues reported a “very nice experience” and the plan to take part in campaigns of this kind more often.
This way of thinking corresponds to our values at BINDER - that's why we say: Keep it up!
