In our new series “local meets international at BINDER” we introduce you to our many international employees. Today Dr. Xiaobo Gu from research and development in focus. The German-Chinese has been with BINDER since July 1, 2019 and was particularly able to contribute to the development of the new vacuum drying oven.
Born in Shanghai, he develops technical solutions and concepts and also carries out tests for them. This means, for example, that the ATEX directives prescribe a special temperature limiter, which Dr. Gu then put it into practice on the product. In addition, the engineer has a view of the production so that everything runs correctly when a product is designed. “Our products are ultra-modern and the technology is at a different level of development. But that's exactly what I was looking for, ”says Dr. Gu, who previously worked in the automotive industry.
The resident of Rottweil has been in Germany since 2003. First he did his master’s degree at the University of Hanover, later he did his doctorate in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. And today he is at BINDER and, as he says, enjoys his work. He is downright fascinated by BINDER products, including climatic chambers. "You need real know-how for this," says Dr. Gu. The development processes at BINDER are also highly professional. "That helps us to manufacture premium products."
In addition to the great products, he also likes the conditions that the employees at BINDER encounter. A lot is being asked - on the other hand, he also enjoys the free time he has with his family. The food in the BINDER casino also appeals to him, even if the Asian dishes are not at the top of the menu. “My wife cooks Chinese in the evening, then I like to have a schnitzel for lunch,” laughs engineer Dr. Gu.
