With the help of BINDER cabinets: no more shortage of protective masks

The Ortenau Clinic in Offenburg-Kehl cares for more and more corona patients. Infected people are also cared for from neighboring and severely affected Alsace. In order to cope with the increasing number of patients, more staff was relocated to this clinic location. But then the protective masks became scarce. To remedy the situation, the clinic quickly ordered a drying cabinet from Tuttlingen.

The fire brigade in Offenburg, which itself uses a BINDER drying cabinet to dry protective masks, gave an employee of the clinic the idea to do the same. We quickly established contact with BINDER GmbH in Tuttlingen, which has had a say in corona research for some time.

And so the drying cabinet “made in Tuttlingen” is now being used in the Ortenau Clinic: The staff who come into contact with patients infected with COVID-19 must wear so-called FFP2 or FFP3 masks. These are provided with a plastic protective shield and offer medical staff reliable protection against viruses and bacteria.

This mouthguard, which is currently almost impossible to order, should now be disinfected in the clinic after use and then thoroughly cleaned in a dishwasher. And now the hospital of the Offenburg fire brigade is doing it and drying the clean masks in a BINDER drying cabinet. 30 to 40 masks can be dehydrated at the same time and in just one hour.

The Ortenau Clinic has thus found a way to protect its staff and at the same time have enough protective masks in stock at all times. And you can be sure that this method will be used by other clinics in Germany or around the world during the time of the corona pandemic.
