Tuttlingen – Which devices, instruments or processes do clinics need to make work in the operating room gentler, more efficient and safer? The first "Meet the Maker" forum organized by MedicalMountains GmbH on June 29 in Tuttlingen will bring users and manufacturers of medical products together - in order to shape innovations together from ideas and set new impulses.

Doctors are the best generators of ideas. When they plan or carry out interventions, they always come across potential for improvement. On the one hand for patients, for example to reduce trauma and enable faster healing. On the other hand, in relation to the surgical team itself, when ergonomics and handling of the instruments are taken into account. Sometimes it doesn't take much to make something even better out of what already exists. Sometimes it takes a fundamental rethink. But you always need the right cooperation partners to ensure that initial considerations become tangible products. That's what the Meet the Maker forum is for. Representatives from clinics and industry put their heads together for a day. "Doctors bring their challenges and look for solutions together with experts from medical technology companies," explains Marena Rothermund from MedicalMountains GmbH. "Pragmatic, concrete, constructive", that's how it should be on this day in the Tuttlingen town hall - with a format that is probably unique in Germany. The idea arose during the vision process for the medical technology industry in the southwest. There, a closer connection between clinic and industry was one of the most important concerns for the future. With the event on June 29, a first big step towards implementation will be taken.

The dialogue is accordingly in the foreground. Dr. medical Martin G. Friedrich from the University Medical Center Göttingen with his lecture "Quo vadis medicine 4.0 - have we forgotten something?". In medias res it then goes to themed tables. The participants take turns discussing "Communication in the OR", "Sustainability", "Smarter OR", "Assistance systems" or "Camera technology". As permanent table sponsors, in addition to Dr. medical Martin G. Friedrich, among others, also Prof. Dr. medical Boris Haxel (Black Forest Baar Clinic), Prof. Dr. medical Wolfram Lamadé (Helios Clinic Pforzheim), Prof. Dr. dr medical univ. Arkadiusz Miernik (University Hospital Freiburg) and Prof. Dr. medical dr hc Uwe Spetzger (Klinikum Karlsruhe – SKK) was there. Before, in between and after, sufficient time is planned for individual exchange.

“The topic tables are comprehensive. This is intended to promote interdisciplinary exchange," emphasizes Marena Rothermund: "Physicians from various disciplines as well as developers, product managers or managing directors from medium-sized companies whose portfolios have different focuses are welcome." The aim is to look for new approaches in the network, not to expand existing product ranges apply, emphasizes Marena Rothermund. "We are very excited to see what ideas the 'doers' will come up with." And what rewarding results can be created from them for doctors and patients.
