Tuttlingen - In recent years, companies have had to face a number of crisis situations - for example cyber attacks, the Ukraine conflict, supply chain failures or incidents directly in the company such as fires or burglaries. In such cases, it is good to already have established an emergency and crisis management system in your own company. Carolin Stellmacher from 3-core GmbH will show you how this works at the "Crisis Management" seminar on September 14th. We spoke to her about crisis management in advance:

What will your seminar “Crisis Management” be about?

Carolin Stellmacher: We want to give the participants in the seminar both the conceptual, organizational basis and best practice on how to make their company more resilient. In the first step, the structure for crisis management should be provided; a handbook, instructions on how to deal with crises.

It is often not clear at the outset what a crisis is for the company. What extent of damage must be achieved for this - when do we speak of serious consequences for the company? A crisis is usually a situation to which the company, as it stands today, does not yet know how to react. External factors such as the increase in key interest rates, the gas issue, the corona pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, all of these examples can trigger a crisis situation for companies. It depends on how you relate to the points mentioned as a company. The seminar is about preparing companies so that they can react quickly and adequately to crises; create structures. There should be a well-prepared crisis team that minimizes the damage as much as possible and gets back to regular operations as quickly as possible.

Why is emergency and crisis management so important in your own company?

Carolin Stellmacher: Companies are set up in such a way that they work through all their processes in regular operation. However, this regular operation can be disrupted by various events that primarily affect a company externally. For example, fire, burglary, flooding, cyber attacks or even sabotage or manipulation of systems. In most cases, there is a need for action very quickly; decisions must be made quickly. The aim is to prepare companies in such a way that, among other things, they already have certain emergency plans in place and ready to hand. For example, that they know who they can get supplies from as an alternative if a supplier for an important resource fails. Many companies find themselves in a certain dependence on service providers or certain resources, including suppliers; it can happen that the service provider experiences an emergency or crisis and then there are delivery bottlenecks. We are in a very complex and dynamic world and it is always good to be prepared for failures. Be it the infrastructure, the building, important systems that are required for production or something similar. It is important to be prepared and to know what to do if the worst comes to the worst, in order not to be dominated by chaos in a crisis, but to react to events with as cool a head as possible.

What can the participants look forward to at their seminar?

Carolin Stellmacher: Depending on which industry the participants come from or which focus topics they have, we address situations that suit the participants and with which they can identify. We will also do a crisis team exercise in which we will gradually incorporate the theoretical parts so that at the end of the seminar the participants know what the process is like if a crisis occurs. We also show them how to use crisis communication tools, internally, externally to the media, customers or the population. We won't be able to cover everything in the seminar, but we will address all topics so that at the end of the day the participants have a very good understanding of what they have to do to build up such a crisis system in themselves.

Why should people who are interested register?

Carolin Stellmacher: Recent events and the outlook for global risks and dependencies show that building a resilient organization helps to better manage risks, react to changes and protect reputation. Especially the sectors that are subject to the critical inf
