Opening of the T4M Meet2Match

Stuttgart/Tuttlingen – The network event T4M Meet2Match was opened on Tuesday with a panel discussion moderated by MedicalMountains Managing Director Yvonne Glienke. Among other things, the plenary session highlighted how companies can enter the medical technology industry and the importance of networks.

dr Meike Kapp-Schwoerer, lawyer at the law firm Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner in Freiburg, outlined the diverse demands and challenges of the highly regulated environment on the one hand - on the other hand that suppliers in particular can have a very secure position once they have gained a foothold. One company that has dared to take the plunge is Festo SE & Co. KG with its LifeTech division. Its head of development Prof. Dr. Volker Nestle reported on the findings and empirical values. He recommends that potential newcomers to medical technology stick to their mainstay and proceed in small steps, i.e. not to rush into anything. In order to find one's way around and establish oneself in the new environment, Prof. Nestle emphasized the role of networks – MedicalMountains GmbH and TechnologyMountains eV recently welcomed Festo as the 400th member in their ranks. He also advised that every company must know the processes and that proximity to the customer is crucial.

Michael Kleiner, Ministerial Director of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Housing, described how the state of Baden-Württemberg supports the medical technology industry. For example, he recalled the Baden-Württemberg Healthcare Location Forum. In this context, MedicalMountains GmbH created the Med Alliance BW. The nationwide expert initiative brings medical technology companies together to implement regulatory requirements together, based on their own practical experience for direct practical use, by companies for companies. This input was also included in the discussion: First and foremost, the EU-MDR poses a challenge, especially for small and medium-sized companies - but there is practical and pragmatic support for them, regardless of whether they are long established in the industry or new to it.
