Tuttlingen/Oberkochen - A special number for a special company: The ZEISS Group, based in Oberkochen in East Württemberg, is one of the global technology leaders in the optical and optoelectronic industry - and is now the 444th member of TechnologyMountains with the Industrial Quality Solutions (IQS) division registered association. "Our philosophies fit together wonderfully," say managing directors Yvonne Glienke and Thomas Wolf about the new network partner.
When you hear ZEISS, you immediately think of microscopes and lenses. They were literally the focus when it was founded in 1846 - and they continue to shape a company that is always in demand when it comes to the most accurate possible depiction of reality. This makes ZEISS successful in a wide variety of industrial sectors. ZEISS IQS has traditionally been closely associated with automotive and mechanical engineering. But medical technology is also becoming increasingly important. In this case, the term "medical technology" means quality assurance with multidimensional industrial measurement technology: The portfolio includes solutions from microscopy, computer tomography to multi-sensor coordinate measuring machines. In combination with the appropriate software, this results in a complete solution in the quality area.
For ZEISS IQS, Matthias Schneider (Sales Development Manager) and Johannes Kohl (Head of Medical) will form the interface to TechnologyMountains eV. "Our goal is to help shape markets and make customers more successful," they formulate their own claim - which can best be met if active dialogue is sought. "Participation in the network is one of the keys for us to better understand medium-sized companies and their requirements and to support them in their development in the best possible way," says Matthias Schneider. It's about "feeling the pulse," adds Johannes Kohl, in order to think holistically instead of just offering partial solutions.
However, ZEISS IQS already has a lot of understanding of the industry. For example, software for microscopy that enables a networked workflow across different devices from different manufacturers. The specifications of the European Medical Devices Regulation EU-MDR and the US health authority FDA are not only taken into account, the program helps to meet the regulations. The wealth of knowledge in automation also opens up perspectives for making quality management processes in medical technology more efficient, simpler and better. "We learn something new every day," say Schneider and Kohl, looking back on the exchange within the framework of TechnologyMountains. After all, learning from one another always means gaining new impetus, concretizing ideas into products and ultimately growing together. Matthias Schneider recalls that ZEISS invests around 13 percent of its revenue in research and development work: "We are driven by innovations. You are our mission.”
The new member represents a stroke of luck for the TechnologyMountains managing directors Yvonne Glienke and Thomas Wolf: "With the openness to dialogue and new things, our philosophies fit together wonderfully. And when experience meets experience, great things can come of it,” they are certain. Especially since ZEISS IQS brings in expertise that should be well received. "The topic of quality assurance is elementary," says Yvonne Glienke, "especially in a highly regulated industry such as medical technology." Therefore, one can only encourage the network partners to accept the offer of talks and to get in touch with the new member. There is an opportunity to do this, for example, at the 14th Innovation Forum Medical Technology on October 20, when ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions will be there as an exhibitor and speaker.
