BioFix interim shoulder prosthesis with antibiotic (gentamicin).
The BioFix shoulder spacer is a temporary implant intended to facilitate the treatment of infected shoulder prostheses. The treatment is carried out in two stages, in the first stage the infected prosthesis is removed and replaced with a spacer. In the second phase, when the infection has healed, the spacer is removed and replaced with a definitive prosthesis.
Notes on packaging and sterility:
This BioFix shoulder spacer is available in a box with the instructions for use and an ETO sterilized double blister with an interim shoulder prosthesis.
Composition:
BioFix Spacer is made from PMMA bone cement loaded with high concentrations of antibiotics (gentamicin). An internal AISI 316L core reinforces the implant.
