Drive technology / mechanics

Drive technology is a technical discipline that deals generally with technical systems for generating motion by means of power transmission. Drives in medical technology are usually not built in isolation, but part of a more complex system or the drive train of such. On the one hand, this serves for the transmission of energy by means of a transmission of whatever type, if available, which on the one hand connects the drive shafts involved in a non-positive and / or positive manner and on the other hand is intended for converting one form of energy or form of movement into another. From the point of view of mechanics in medical technology, the transmission represents a torque converter. Furthermore, there may be clutches in the drive train, which are responsible for either connecting and disconnecting parts of the drive train (the so-called engagement and disengagement), by balancing a speed difference, be it by positive locking (engaging or disengaging) or by balancing three-phase rotation, shaft alignments or shaft misalignment.
